DENMARK, S.C. - CIU picked up a last-minute game against Voorhees College (S.C.) on Tuesday afternoon after their doubleheader against Brewton-Parker University was postponed. This is the first matchup between the squads since 2019, and CIU now holds a 3-0 record against the Tigers after an 11-2 run-rule win.
CIU 11 Voorhees 2: The Rams scored five in the first inning, highlighted by a Brenna Fasching two-RBI double for a comfortable first-inning advantage. Voorhees scratched one after a couple of defensive slip-ups from CIU, but the Rams tacked on two more after back-to-back singles from Sarah Jordan and Caydon Thompson (7-1). Singles from Ally Clapp and Tristan Phillips added two more in the third, and Voorhees added another in the bottom of the frame (9-2). CIU found their way into run-rule territory with a double from Alexuz Barnes in the fourth, and an RBI single from Macey Drye in the fifth secured the 11-2 victory.
