COLUMBIA, S.C. - Coming off a 2-0 sweep against Allen (S.C.), CIU softball hosted a doubleheader against Brewton-Parker (Ga.) for their home opener. The Barons took an early lead in both games to sweep the Rams 3-0 and 6-0. CIU is now 2-2 on the season.
Game 1
BPC 3 CIU 0: Both teams went scoreless until the Barons scored three runs in the top of the fourth off of two errors and three hits. Sophia Noriega singled in the second, but the Rams' second hit of the contest didn't come until Josie Self singled in the bottom of the seventh. CIU threatened to score in the final frame with two on base, but two pop-ups prevented a comeback opportunity.

BCP 6 CIU 0: The Rams threatened to score in the bottom of the first when Scarlett Traver made it to third, but they could not push her across the plate. The Barons took the lead in the top of the third with three runs and tacked another on in the top of the fourth for a 4-0 lead. Jada Cox entered the circle and gave up no hits in the fifth and sixth innings, but a single and an error would allow Brewton-Parker to add two more runs in the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, CIU went down in order to fall in game two.
