DAYTON, TENN. - CIU men's soccer traveled to Tennessee to face Bryan College in their final regular season contest on Monday afternoon. The contest was rescheduled from Sept. 28 due to Hurricane Helene. A back-and-forth game resulted in a 3-3 draw. CIU finishes the regular season 8-5-3 overall and 7-3-2 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play.
Match Summary: After just two shots from the Rams, Landon Guevara got the Rams on the board in the 9th minute of the contest. However, the Lions responded 19 minutes later with a goal of their own to even the score. Bryan Molina took a shot in the final minute of the half that ricocheted off the post to prevent the Rams from taking the lead going into intermission.
The Lions broke the tie in the 58th minute after scoring on a penalty kick. However, Rodrigo Cercal stepped up for the Rams' offense and netted the ball in the 62nd and 77th minute to give CIU the 3-2 lead. However, a goal in the last minute of the contest from the Lions would force a 3-3 draw to conclude conference play for the Rams.
Up Next: The Rams will enter the AAC Tournament as the 5th seed and take on Truett McConnell University (Ga.) on Saturday, Nov. 2.
