COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's soccer welcomed fellow NCCAA member, Bob Jones University (S.C.) for a Saturday afternoon matchup in honor of their seniors. The Rams took an early lead and held onto this lead for a 3-0 win to take down the Bruins for the first time in program history.
Match Summary: Mercy Berkemeyer and Amber McKinley took shots early into the contest, but both attempts sailed wide. Mazzie Leos put the Rams on the board in the 10th minute of the game off an assist from Callie Rowe. CIU took four corner kicks in the first half, but did not score off any of these opportunities. Hailey Resetar and the Rams' backline recorded three saves to keep the Bruins off the board and lead 1-0 into intermission.
Both teams traded off shots, but Marisa Dill sailed one past the keeper off a pass from Leos to add to the Rams' lead (56'). CIU spent some time in their own defensive end before Rowe shot one into the top left corner of the goal, assisted by Dill, to put the Rams ahead 3-0. Despite the attempts, neither team made it past the keeper, resulting in a 3-0 win for CIU.
Up Next: The Rams close out the regular season on the road with a Monday morning contest against Bryan College (Tenn.) on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. EST.
