COLUMBIA - CIU volleyball broke their all-time series deadlock with Tennessee Wesleyan (TWU) on Friday evening as CIU blasted past the Bulldogs (25-17, 25-15, 25-15). TWU brought an interesting history into the match, having defeated CIU for the first three years of the Ram's existence. Since then, the Rams have won four straight against the Bulldogs, culminating in Friday's sweep. CIU moves to 22-2 on the season and stays undefeated at 7-0 at home.
Freshman Katie Camp spearheaded the Ram's offense on the evening with 11 kills and a .409 hitting percentage. Hadassah Davis had a solid outing with seven kills, hitting .429, while Gabriela Vega and Hanah Weiss each chipped in six kills. Setters Kamelia De Jesus (13 assists) and Melissa Campos Sotos (17 assists / 4 service aces) provided their hitters ample opportunities as the duo combined for 30 assists.
Libero Kelcey Mangum's athleticism was on display on several different occasions as the junior picked up 12 digs and added several plays to her season highlight reel. Lydia Gustafson made several impressive plays on the defensive side if the net as well as she recorded six total blocks.
