COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU men's soccer welcomed Truett McConnell University (Ga.) to Sessions Field for an intense Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Saturday matchup. The Rams fell behind in the first half and could not connect with the net for a comeback victory. CIU is now 7-4-2 overall and 6-2-1 in AAC play.
Match Summary: Five minutes into the game, Noe Limas took a shot that was saved by the Bears' back line, but Truett responded with a goal in the 8th minute. The Bears added another goal to lead 2-0 (29'). Juan Jimenez and Landon Guevara took shots before half time, but neither found the back of the net.
Rodrigo Cercal took a shot early into the second half that narrowly hit the post to keep the Rams off the board. The Rams overpowered the Bears with 11 shots, but none made it past the keeper. In a fiercely contested match, the referee was kept busy, issuing eight yellow cards as tensions ran high between the teams. CIU was held to zero in the second half, resulting in a 2-0 loss.
