COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU baseball returned home to host Montreat College (N.C.) in another Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) series. The Rams have only lost to the Cavaliers once in program history, and they would continue their dominance after taking Friday's contest 10-3.
Both teams went scoreless in the first three innings, but Montreat got on the board first in the top of the fourth. CIU responded with a two-run blast from Joshua Hernandez, but the Cavaliers got back on top with a two-run homer of their own (3-2). The Rams added four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and four more seventh to secure the victory.
Box Score Highlights:
- Justin Parish got his second win of the season, only allowing three earned runs in six innings. Dean Seelbach closed out the last three innings with no hits and three strikeouts to record the save.
- Hernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate, highlighted by a two-run homer in the fourth.
- Brandt Miller and Price Alexander also notched two hits, while six other Rams collected one.
