Esports Weekly Recap: Rams find success in busy week

CIU Rocket League Gold vs. Lawrence Technological University

CIU Rocket League Gold overtook LTU in a best of 5 match with a final score of 3-1. The Rams showcased their training and resolve with a pair of notable wins right out of the gate. Their standing after the fourth round of NACE is now 3-1, paving the way for a remarkable performance in the regular season. Go Rams!

CIU Rocket League Gold competes in the NACE Varsity Plus division, where they'll compete against a variety of schools all over North America. Matches are held every Monday night at 7:00pm ET and are broadcasted on Twitch with professional shout casting.

CIU Rocket League Blue vs. Simpson College

CIU Rocket League Blue fell to Simpson College in overtime of game 5 in a best of 5 series. After battling their way through two loses and then two rallying wins, game 5 quickly became a spectacle in the CIU Esports Arena as Rocket League Blue dialed in their focus to the conclusion of a 1-1 tie in game 5. As the final overtime round began, Blue's communication became increasingly focused and targeted rotations and car placement before Simpson eventually took control and claimed the final goal for the win. Great showcase this week, Blue Team!  

CIU Rocket League Blue competes in the NACE Varsity Plus division, where they'll compete against a variety of schools all over North America. Matches are held every Monday night at 7:00pm ET and are broadcasted on Team Captain Campbell's Twitch channel.

CIU Overwatch Gold vs. University of Georgia

CIU Overwatch Gold finished a perfect regular season with NACE on Tuesday evening with yet another 3-0 sweep against UGA. Having completed 7 unblemished rounds, this means CIU Overwatch Gold did not drop a single map, giving them 21 consecutive wins this season. As playoffs are scheduled in the coming weeks, the team will not get a break from the action as they prepare for a special LAN at University of Kentucky later in November. Their hard work and dedication to their craft speaks for itself, and they go into playoffs with growing expectations. Well done, Overwatch Gold!

CIU Overwatch Gold competes in the NACE Open Premiere division, where they'll compete against a variety of schools all over North America. Matches are held every Tuesday night at 7:00pm ET and are broadcasted on Twitch with shout casting provided by current CIU students and staff.

CIU Rams Smash vs. University of West Georgia

CIU Rams Smash fell to UWG Wolves on Thursday night in a heated battle against one of the conferences top teams. Rams Smash showcased a strong mental game as UWG's Incineroar and Falco players put on an predictably good performance. In a post-game interview, Banjo & Kazooie player Caleb Philips acknowledged that Rams Smash were anticipating a hard battle but are proud of taking 8 stock in the first match set, and then 10 in the second putting them on par with other teams who had previously lost to UWG. We look forward to facing off against Brewton-Parker on next week!
