COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's soccer took the field for the second time this season for a noon kickoff against Allen University (S.C.) at Sessions Field. The Rams were searching for their first win of the season as their season opener ended in a 1-1 draw against Warner (Fla.). CIU lit up the scoreboard in this contest with a dominating 7-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Scoring Summary:
Tara Collins got the Rams on the board, notching her first goal of the season on an assist from
Marisa Dill at the 6:43 minute mark. Then, on an assist from
Haley Hernandez,
Mercy Berkemeyer found the net to increase CIU's lead. Later in the half,
Callie Rowe would strike on a beautifully placed ball from the right corner to expand the Ram's lead to three. Before the break,
Taylor Kyle put her her stamp on the contest with her first goal on an assist from
Arianna Elliott to take a 4-0 lead into intermission.
In the opening minute of the second period, CIU picked up right where they left off as
Callie Rowe would score again on an assist from
Mercy Berkemeyer, giving her two on the day.
Taylor Kyle then tallied her second goal of the contest as well, scoring at the 60:29 minute mark. Finally,
Kaelan Bowers found the back of the net to give the Rams a final 7-0 advantage on an assist from
Kyra Smith.
