COLUMBIA, S.C. - Following a successful weekend tri-match CIU volleyball was back in action Tuesday evening for an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest with Brenau (Ga.). Entering the match with the Golden Tigers (3-8, 1-2) the Rams were 8-0 against their conference foe all-time. CIU made it nine straight wins over the Golden Tigers and five wins this season as the Rams (12-6, 3-0) picked up the 3-0 (25-23, 25-10, 25-16) sweep.
CIU was tested in set one by Brenau as the Rams trailed 22-18 before back-to-back aces from
Carla Cauchi evened the contest at 22-22. The Rams ultimately took set one and then outplayed the Golden Tigers in the final two sets for thier third conference win of the year.
Kira Rymer had 11 kills in just two sets played while recording a .429 hitting percentage.
Jadaeya Morrell and
Hadassah Davis each had solid matches offensively with Morrell notching five kills on nine attempts and Davis totaling seven kills on 19 attempts. Morrell was a force to be reckoned with defensively with three solo blocks and a block assist.
Kamelia De Jesus and
Kelcey Mangum were also key to the Rams defensive endeavors, with De Jesus recording 15 digs while Mangum totaled 16 digs. De Jesus would achieve a double-double as she added 21 assists to her stat line. Cauchi furthered the Rams' cause with excellent serving, recording four aces.
