COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU Softball returned to Appalachain Athletic Conference (AAC) play with a matchup with Bryan College (Tenn.). Unfortunately, the Rams (11-16-1) couldn't get anything going in both games running into a battle-tested Lions (8-10) squad and ultimately fell in the first 5-0 and in the second game 17-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONE: CIU 0 BC 5: Bryan got on the board first with two runs in their first time up to bat. They then scored two more runs in the third to go up 4-0. They would add on their last run in the seventh without allowing a run from the Rams and won 5-0.
BOX SCORE NOTES:
GAME TWO: CIU 2 BC 17: The Lions got on the board quickly in game two as well, scoring two runs in the first inning. CIU would cut their deficit to one with a run in the second inning; however, the Lion's bats began to heat up. In the next two innings, Bryan put up 15 runs to take a 17-1 lead. CIU would add a run in the 5th, but none more as the Rams fell due to the run rule.
BOX SCORE NOTES:
- The Rams had better success at the plate in game two with seven hits.
- Kaitlynn Creel and Hallie Miller each had two hits.
- The Lions scored 11 runs in the fourth inning.
