DENMARK, S.C. - CIU baseball stayed in-state on Tuesday for an early week non-conference contest with NAIA foe Voorhees College. Despite leading for some of the afternoon, the game slipped away from the Rams as they took a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Tigers. CIU falls to 10-20 overall with the loss.
After trailing 1-0 through the second and third innings, the Rams took the lead on a two-run single from Kody Trujillo in the fourth inning. However, CIU gave up the lead in the fifth, falling behind the Tigers 3-2 in the bottom of the inning. The Rams threatened to score in the top of the eighth but were unable to capitalize on a runner in scoring position. CIU then gave up two runs in the bottom of the inning as the Tigers ultimately battled their way to the 6-2 win over the Rams.
BOX SCORE NOTES:
- Kody Trujillo led CIU at the plate with two hits and two RBI's.
- Joshua Hernandez recorded his eighth double of the season.
- Tyler Parker went seven innings on the mound for CIU as he recorded four strikeouts and gave up two earned runs.
