WALESKA, Ga. - After picking an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament win earlier this week, CIU women's soccer hit the road to take on No. 2 seeded Reinhardt (Ga.)in the conference quarterfinals. The Rams battled throughout the first frame before a late first-half goal would eventually spur the Eagles on to a 6-0 win to eliminate the Rams from AAC contention. With the loss, CIU moves to 8-7-3 overall, with the NCCAA postseason still ahead.
Scoring Summary: The Rams' defense stood firm through the majority of the first frame as Julianna Bost picked up four saves in the first 45' minutes of play. The Eagles finally broke through CIU's backline in the 44' to score on a Kirsten Gray goal.
The Eagles nursed a 1-0 advantage into the break, but the second half was a different story. Reinhardt scored five unanswered goals for a decisive final score of 6-0.
CIU's offense came from Mercy Berkemeyer and Tara Collins, who each recorded a shot, while Bost collected eight total saves.
