COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's soccer took the field on Wednesday afternoon to face off against Bob Jones University in the semifinal round of the NCCAA South Region Conference Tournament. Despite their effort, the Rams were unable to hold off the Bruins and suffered a 2-0 loss to end their season.
Scoring Summary: Bob Jones attacked first and found the back of the net at the 7:05 mark. The Rams were unable to answer offensively in the first half, but Julianna Bost collected four saves to keep the score 1-0.
The second half was a defensive battle as there were only a combined nine shots on goal from both teams. Despite outshooting BJU 5-4, CIU was not able to get on the board in the second half. The Bruins offense came on later in the second half, scoring two more goals in the last 15 minutes of the game.
CIU's offense was led by Amber McKinley, Mazzie Leos, Mercy Berkemeyer, and Avery Long, who each recorded two shots.
This marks the end of the season for the CIU women's soccer team. The Rams finished with an 8-8-3 record overall and 5-6-2 in conference play.
