Women's Soccer battle with Buffs ends in draw

MILLIGAN, Tenn. - CIU women's soccer took the pitch on the road in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) against Milligan (Tenn.)  Saturday afternoon. The Rams remained in the middle of a jam-packed conference as CIU entered the match 5-2-2 on the season and 3-2-1 in AAC play. The Rams had their second straight draw in conference play with a 3-3 final score against the Buffs.

Scoring Summary:
CIU took control of the match early in the first frame as Mazzie Leos notched her second goal on a strike outside the box. The Rams would go on to take seven more shots in the period and took a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Rams would open up the second period, similar to how they started in the first. Inside the 49' minute, Amber McKinley provided the spark as she recorded her first goal of the season on a cross inside the box from Arianna Elliott

The Buffs began to take control in the second frame shortly after the Ram's second goal. After being outshot 8-2 in the first, the Buffs outshot the Rams 11-6 in the second. Isabella Cranford put in the first goal for the Buffs in the 65' minute on a header from a corner kick.

The Rams put in another score as McKenzie Miller scored her first goal of the game in the 77' minute on an assist from Mazzie Leos. But, unfortunately, the Buffs closed the game by scoring two goals, one by Ella Sawa on a corner kick inside the box at the 79' minute and the second by Sawa in the 86' minute to end the game in a draw.
