COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's soccer stepped up to the pitch at Sessions Field on a cloudy Wednesday afternoon to face No. 23 Reinhardt University. A quiet first half from the Rams gave the Eagles a 4-1 victory in today's matchup. CIU is now 3-3-2 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play and 5-3-3 on the season.
Scoring Summary:
Reinhardt found the back of the net early in the first half with a goal from the AAC's leading scorer, Carrie Consolino. Consolino scored two more times in the first half to help the Eagles to a 4-0 lead. Reinhardt took control of the game early and kept this control through the first half, as they took 17 shots on goal.
It wasn't until the second half that CIU attempted their first shot. At the 67:51 minute mark, the Rams got on the board with a shot from Tara Collins on an assist from Haley Hernandez. This is the first goal that Reinhardt has given up in conference play this season, and it is Collins' fourth goal of the season. The Eagles did not find the net again in the second half, despite taking ten more shots. Julianna Bost had a serviceable afternoon in the goal with a season-high of 12 saves.
