Bill Brindley's squad found themselves in another extra period battle, and the Rams would prevail again to extend their record-breaking start to the season. CIU men's soccer improves to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in AAC play.
Scoring Summary:
The Rams were in a defensive battle throughout the first and second half. Both teams were able to prevent goals from connecting despite 25 combined shots. Goalies saw a lot of action in this match-up as Rams' keeper,
Hazel Ley, recorded season-high seven saves on the night, while the Cavaliers goalie, Jesus Ramos recorded four. Regulation would end in a 0-0 tie.
The game moved to the first ten-minute overtime. At the 96:37 minute mark, just over four minutes into the extra period,
Rafael Carneiro struck the back of the net off an assist from
Sonny Quintinilla, becoming a hero once again. This is Carneiro's second straight game-winning goal, as he pushed the Rams past Truett McConnell (GA.) with a goal in the second overtime period this past Saturday. Wednesday's goal gives Carnerio his sixth goal of the season, which leads the team.
