COLUMBIA, S.C. - The CIU women's soccer team scored the game's first goal against  Montreat College (N.C.), Wednesday night, but were unable to connect again as the Cavaliers scored two goals in the second half, giving them the 2-1 victory. With the loss, the Rams fell to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).

Scoring Summary: 
The game's first goal came at the 33:02 minute mark as Amber McKinley would find the back of the net on an assist by Haley Hernandez. The Rams would hold the 1-0 lead going into halftime. 

The momentum would shift in Montreat's favor in the second half with two scores less than two minutes apart. The first came from the foot of Cavaliers Sydney Jordan at the 59:27 minutes mark. Shortly after, Angelina Bourcier would strike, giving the Cavaliers a one-score lead with just under 30 minutes to play. However, the Rams could not tie the game despite ten shots in the second half as the Cavaliers went on to give CIU their first home loss of the season.

Keeper Kayla Lusk recorded a season-high nine saves for CIU.

CIU women's soccer will aim to bounce back on the road this Friday against Bluefield College (Va.). Kickoff is scheduled for 2 PM.
