CLEVELAND, Ga. - The CIU women's soccer team took to the field on Saturday against the No. 24 Truett McConnell (Ga.) Bears. The Rams had yet to lose an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game entering the contest, but that would change as the Rams fell 8-1 to TMU; with the loss, the Rams moved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the AAC.
Truett McConnell would tack on four goals in the first half and four goals in the second half. CIU's only goal would come from Alexis Silva in the 54th minute. The goal was Silva's first of her CIU career as the Lexington native continues a solid start to her freshman year. The Rams recorded five shots, two of which were on goal. Kayla Lusk was back in goal for CIU as she tallied seven saves for the Rams.
What Coach Farnsworth is saying: "Hats off to Truett; they have a talented group this year. We will learn from this, move past it, and prepare for Montreat next week."
Up next: The Rams will take on Montreat (N.C.) at home on Wednesday evening (Sept. 29).
