KNOXVILLE, TENN. - The CIU men's soccer team headed to Knoxville, Tennessee, for another Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup Thursday night. The Rams went into the contest 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in AAC play. The Rams defeated the Royals handily, continuing their undefeated season and improving to 5-0.
Scoring Summary:
The Rams have been on a tear offensively, outscoring opponents 16 to 1 this season. CIU would continue their high-scoring ways with five goals in Thursday's contest. The first goal came from
Eduardo Igor at the 15:20 minute mark, giving him his first goal of the season.
Daniel Ospina would score the second goal for the Rams just after the 27:00 minute in the first to put CIU up 2 to 0 going into the half.
The Rams would tack on three goals in the second.
Rafael Carneiro would strike first with an assist coming from
Lucas Galdino. Then,
Sohya Yamamoto would find the net for the first time this season at the 71:37 mark.
Praise Kabwe would score the fifth and final goal to cap off another dominating performance by the Rams.
The Ram's defense has been impressive so far this season. The backline of Coach
Bill Brindley's squad has protected their goal well. Goalkeeper
Hazel Ley has been a big part of that stifling defensive. In this matchup, he recorded four saves, tying his season-high.
