COLUMBIA, S.C. – The CIU baseball team took on yet another NAIA ranked team on Wednesday as they faced No. 7 Georgia Gwinnett in a home doubleheader. After defeating the No. 1 ranked team in the country just over a week and a half ago, CIU appeared to be a formidable opponent for the Grizzlies. However, unfortunately for CIU not much would go the Ram's way as they were dispatched by GGC in both games. CIU moves to 14-17 overall with the losses but continues to play one of the most challenging schedules in all of the NAIA.
Game One: GGC 10 CIU 0:
- Despite not scoring a run, CIU had five different players garner a hit.
- Carter Willis was walked and recorded a hit while Joshua Hernandez notched a hit and was hit by a pitch going 1-2 from the plate.
- Buddy Bleasdale, Gabe Austin, and Jalen McDuffie were the other players to add a hit to their season total, as Cole Cascio also got on base on a walk.
- The Rams threw four different pitchers at the Grizzlies as Christian Orr led the staff in strikeouts with three.
Game Two: GGC 5 CIU 0:
- Tyler Parker pitched three innings while recording four strikeouts and allowing three runs.
- Gabe Austin gave the Rams their first hit of the game in the 7th inning with a well-placed hit to shallow center field.
- Kody Trujillo followed Austin with a deep shot to left field, forcing the GGC left fielder to try and make a play up against the wall as Trujillo picked up a single.
