COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's soccer played their final home game of the regular season Saturday afternoon. The Rams came up short to the Lions of Bryan College 2-1 and finished the regular season 9-10 overall and 6-9 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Scoring Summary:
The first half was a back and forth contest with both teams creating several scoring chances. The Rams would take five shots in the period but could not find the back of the net through 45 minutes. The Rams defense held steady in the first, allowing no goals despite four shots from Bryan in the half. The game would remain scoreless going into halftime.
The Rams would take the lead in the second period with a goal by
Amber McKinley on an assist by
Haley Hernandez. The goal gives McKinley her seventh this season to lead the Rams. However, the Lions would respond with a goal of their own by Kathryn Hager to tie the game at one goal apiece. At the 77:15 minute mark, Macy Gibson would score on what proved to be the game-winner for Bryan, as the Rams could not find the net before the clock struck zero.
