MONTREAT, N.C.- CIU women's volleyball completed their weekend road trip with yet another dominant performance on Saturday as they took care of Montreat (N.C.) in three sets (25-16, 25-22, 25-21). The Rams move to 16-6 overall and 8-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). CIU sits solidly in first place in the conference, after Bryan's (Tenn.) loss to Reinhardt (Ga.) earlier on Saturday.
CIU overwhelmed the Cavaliers with their attack as they had three players with double-digit kills.
Kira Rymer,
Cintia Lorena, and
Alana Sanjurjo have all been dominant at moments this season, but each was equally impressive in Saturday's match. Lorena and Sanjurjo each had 14 kills, while Rymer picked up 13 kills. Notably, Lorena had a .458 hitting percentage while Rymer only recorded one error and a .545 hitting percentage.
Kamelia De Jesus was the beneficiary of CIU's potent attack as the setter had a whopping 42 assists. CIU's defense held up with ten-block assists while
Karla Rodriguez led the Rams in digs with ten.
