Volleyball Disposes Of Knight For Third Win Of The Weekend

COLUMBIA, S.C. – After defeating Brenau University earlier in the day on Saturday, the CIU women's volleyball team picked up their third Appalachian Athletic Conference win in 24 hours. The Rams knocked off Kentucky Christian University in three sets. The win moves CIU to 9-5, tying their win total from 2019. One more victory will give CIU the most conference wins in program history.

How It Happened:

Set One: CIU led by as much as 12-6 in set one after a Shaniece Steer kill. KCU fought, but CIU edged the Knights for a 25-22 set one win. Steer led the way with three kills in the set.

Set Two: Kira Rymer came alive in set two with 5 kills and an ace helping the Rams to a 25-16 win.

Set Three: In the third set, the Rams saw a complete showing from their 2019 NCCAA All-American Megan Lung. Lung had 6 kills in the set while also putting her serving on display with 2 aces. Milijana Zmuric was instrumental in set three with 3 kills of her own.

Game Notes:
  • After having a great start to the day versus Brenau, Kira Rymer capped off her weekend with 11 kills, 3 aces, 7 digs, and .423 hitting percentage.
  • Megan Lung led the Rams in kills with 12 while the Gotha, Florida native had 2 aces and a .364 hitting percentage.
  • Coming off of a good match versus Reinhardt on Friday, Alana Sanjurjo led the Rams in digs with 10 against KCU.
  • The Rams were strong serving as they notched 9 aces as a team.

"Going 3-0 in the last 24 hours is a nice way to end the week. Proud of the effort this week. A great team effort by all of our athletes.  Each player had an opportunity to contribute and that was really special."

Up Next:
CIU will travel to Gainesville, Georgia on Tuesday, November 10th to battle Brenau University at 6:30 PM.
