Rams Take Care Of Golden Tigers

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Coming off a monumental win the night before over the Reinhardt Eagles, CIU women's volleyball took on Brenau University at noon on Saturday. The game was the first match of the day as the Rams take on Kentucky Christian University Saturday afternoon. CIU breezed by the Golden Tigers 3-0 to move to 8-5 on the season.

How It Happened:

Set one: Kira Rymer was a bright spot all match for the Rams as the freshman had four kills in set one as the Rams led by as much as 18-12 and knocked off the Golden Tigers 25-21.

Set Two: The Rams once again asserted their dominance in set two as Megan Lung led the Rams with four kills in the set while Kamryn Dove contributed an ace to push CIU to a 25-15 set two victory.

Set Three: The final set of the contest was the closest of the match as CIU only eked out a 26-24 set win. Dove was once again crucial to the Rams' success as she came up with two big blocks in the third set.

Game Notes:
  • Sophomore Megan Lung had 10 kills with a .350 hitting percentage, while Shaniece Steer had 5 kills and no errors.
  • Kira Rymer was phenomenal all match with 7 kills, 0 errors 4 aces, and 4 blocks.
  • Kamryn Dove and Kelsey Kinard stepped up for CIU off the bench, Dove had 2 blocks and a service ace while Kinard picked up 3 kills and a block.
What Coach Haver is saying:
"Our first match of the day was an impressive team win. We had a lot of people come off the bench and step up for us. We have a deep team, and I think that showed in this match. It is always great to get a conference win at home."
