CIU women's soccer secured a victory against the Allen University Yellow Jackets Monday night, with a final tally of 11-0. The match would be the Yellow Jackets first-ever contest in program history.
The Rams would open the scoring with a goal from
Kirsten Long in the 3rd minute of play. The Ram's would notch their second goal of the night in the 4th minute with a strike from CIU forward
Taylor Kyles. The Rams continued to push on the Yellow Jackets disallowing any attacking attempts from the first-year program. Ram's forward
Taylor Kyles would give CIU a 3-0 lead in the 8th minute with a strike just outside the 18-yard box. Kyles would complete her hat trick in the 11th minute of the first half extending CIU's lead to 4-0.
Kaylyn Hernandez would score on a pass from her sister, freshman
Haley Hernandez, in the 12th minute. Ram's senior
Sotiria Tsilionis would score in the 30th minute with an assist from freshman
Tara Collins. The Ram's would improve their lead to 7-0 with a goal from
McKenzie Miller assisted by Collins. The Ram's would head into halftime with a 7-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets.
The scoring would start early in the second half with an own goal by the Yellow Jackets in the 47th minute. The Ram's would continue their attack in the second half and be awarded a penalty kick in the 56th.
Sotiria Tsilionis would bury the penalty kick in the back of the goal to extend the lead to 9-0. Freshman
Haley Hernandez would notch her first-ever goal as a Ram in the 78th minute with a shot from the top of the box. Tsilionis would score the Ram's final goal in the 82nd minute. The Ram's would close out the contest with an 11-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets and improve to a 1-0-0 record.
