Rams Conquered by the Knights

Just under twenty-four hours after finishing their doubleheader against Brenau University the Columbia International University Softball team was back on the field. Today the Rams welcomed the Knights of St. Andrews for a doubleheader. The Knights bats were hot today as they swept the doubleheader by the scores of 13-6 and 8-1.

Game One Highlights:
  • The Rams would hold the Knights scoreless in the top of the first and get a run on the board in the bottom of the first as Robyn Andrews scored on a single by Alyssa Allender
  • The Knights would answer with a run of their own in the top of the second to tie the game
  • Going into the third the teams were tied at one, but in the top of the third the Knights scored another run to take the lead
  • The Knights would score three runs on five hits in the top of the fourth
  • In the top of the sixth the Knights would score six more runs to take a 13-1 lead
  • With their backs against the wall the Rams found some life in their bats
  • Kaylyn DeVaney would score on a single by Madison Janning, Alyssa Allender scored on a Leslie Hicks single. The Rams would score two more runs on a hit by pitch and walk with bases loaded. Andrews would hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Hicks and the Rams trimmed the Knights lead to 13-6
  • After a quiet seventh inning the Knights took game one 13-6
Game One Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams scored six runs on eight hits...Allender and Kayla Washington had two hits a piece for the Rams...Five different Rams had a run batted in...Alexis Holler, Lana Fletcher, and Alicia Wallick all pitched at least an inning in the game...Rachel Swartwood led the Knights with five hits
Game Two Highlights:
  • The Knights scored in the top of the first on a two run home run with two outs in the inning
  • The Knights would get another run on the board in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead
  • The Rams would get on the board in the top of third as Robyn Andrews scored on the Knights throw
  • The Knights would answer with three runs in the top of the fourth on another home run
  • The Knights would score two more runs to defeat the Rams 8-1
Game Two Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams had six hits with six different players recording a hit. Trinity Jennings reach base on two walks...Madison Janning had the one extra base hit and Alyssa Allender had a stolen base...Kieera Locklear had three runs batted in for the Knights
Up Next: The Rams will be back on the road as they travel to Tennessee next weekend to take on Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday and Bryan College on Saturday.
