The Columbia International University Women's Softball team has been in a little bit of a slump lately in the opening stages of conference play, but the Rams were hoping to right the ship at home. The Rams welcomed town rival Allen University to CIU for a doubleheader. Both games were tight, but the Rams were able to win game one on a walk-off hit by
Milena Picciano and the Yellow Jackets took game two of the doubleheader.
Game One Highlights:
- The Yellow Jackets got their first base runner on a double to deep left center, but she was erased on a fielders choice and the Rams held them scoreless
- Robyn Andrews got the bottom of the first started with a double to deep left center and then scored after stealing third and advancing home on a wild throw
- Alyssa Allender singled to center and stole second with two outs, but was stranded there as the Rams led 1-0
- The Rams would hold the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the top of the second
- Madison Janning would reach base on an error and got to second on a hard hit ball. Brittney Allender would single to shallow center and Janning advanced to third. Janning would score on a wild pitch to give the Rams a 2-0 lead
- The Yellow Jackets got their bats going in the top of the third as they scored three runs on four hits to take the lead
- The Rams were held scoreless in the third and fourth innings
- In the top of the fifth the Yellow Jackets would score two more runs to take a 5-2 lead
- Andrews got on base with a single and Kaylyn DeVaney reach on an error to give the Rams two baserunners. Alyssa Allender would crank a triple to deep left to score Andrews and DeVaney. Milena Picciano would ground out to third, but Allender would score on the throw to tie the game at five
- The teams would not score in the sixth inning, but the Yellow Jackets would get runners on second and third in the top of the seventh. Two straight strikeouts by Allender got the Rams out of the jam
- Andrews, DeVaney, and Allender would get on base to load the bases with no outs. Picciano would come up to bat and fight for a good pitch and singled that pitch to win the game for the Rams 6-5

- Five different Rams had a hit in todays game...Robyn Andrews and Alyssa Allender led the Rams with three hits each...Allender was a home run short of the cycle...Allender and Picciano had two runs batted in a piece...Alicia Wallick pitched four plus innings and had three strikeouts, while Allender got the win with five strikeouts...Deidre Davis-Johnson led the Yellow Jackets with three hits
Game Two Highlights:
- Alexis Holler started game two on the mound and got the Yellow Jackets to go down in order with two strikeouts
- Andrews got the game started with a single and was able to make it to third on a bunt by DeVaney and sacrifice fly by Allender. A single by Picciano got Andrews home to give the Rams the lead
- Neither team would score in the second or third inning
- The Yellow Jackets would get on the board in the top of the fourth as they scored two runs on two hits
- The Rams would score on more in the bottom of the fifth as DeVaney singled home Andrews to tie the game at two
- The Yellow Jackets would answer the Rams with a run of their own in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead
- After two straight doubles by Madison Janning and Trinity Jennings the Rams tied the game at three
- In the top of the seventh the Yellow Jackets would score five runs to jump out in front 8-3
- Janning would double down the left field line to score DeVaney and Elizabeth Allen, but that is all the Rams could do as they lost 8-5 in the second game

- Seven different Rams had a hit in the game with Madison Janning and Kaylyn DeVaney having two hits a piece...Janning also had two runs batted in for the Rams...Brittney Allender swiped a base while DeVaney had two stolen bases...Holler had seven strikeouts on the mound...Shelby Griffen got the win for the Yellow Jackets and had three hits
