Rams Unable to Overcome Bulldogs on the Road

The Columbia International University Men's Basketball team took to the road looking to upset Union College who is ranked #14 in the latest NAIA DII National Rankings. The Rams matched the Bulldogs in the first half, but shots kept falling for the Bulldogs as they won 107-82. With the loss the Rams fall to 14-11 overall and 9-10 in the AAC, while the Bulldogs move to 19-6 overall and 14-4 in the AAC.

1st Half Highlights:
  • In the first two minutes of the game the Bulldogs raced out to an early 9-0 lead
  • The Rams first point came on a free throw by Jacob Cook
  • Over the next two minutes the Rams would get back in the game scoring eight points to pull within four points of the Bulldogs, 13-9
  • The Bulldogs would race out to a double digit lead, but a layup by Eric Graham stopped the Bulldogs run
  • The Rams pulled back within five of the Bulldogs on a three by Cook
  • The teams went back and forth, but with about nine and a half minutes left in the half the Rams tied the game at 23 on a layup by Elijah Spalding
  • The Rams would tied the game at 26 on a three by Damiah Hurta just thirty seconds later
  • The teams would continue to battle, but with just five minutes left in the half the Rams were back within five of the Bulldogs on a three by Kyren Bolden
  • At the end of the first twenty minutes the Bulldogs led 48-40
2nd Half Highlights:
  • The Bulldogs opened the half on a 11-0 run to take a 59-40 lead
  • Cook scored the Rams first points off the second half for the Rams on a three point play
  • The Bulldogs would go on another big scoring run to take a commanding lead over the Rams
  • The Rams tried chipping away at the Bulldogs lead 9-0 run with just under eight minutes left to play
  • The teams would go back and forth matching each other point for point stopping the Rams chance to come back
  • Hurta would hit a three for the Rams last points as they fell 107-82
Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams shot the ball well as they were 43.9% (29-of-66) from the floor and were 10-of-20 from the three point line...The Bulldogs however, shot 54.9% from the field and had 75 points in the paint...The Bulldogs had 47 rebounds compared to the Rams 29...Arthur Pearson led the Rams with 22 points...Eric Graham and Jacob Cook had 13 and 12 points for the Rams off the bench...Kyren Bolden had eight points and eight rebounds...K.J. Duronslet led the Bulldogs with 30 points and 13 rebounds
