CIU women's soccer returned to action on Saturday against the Bulldogs of Union College. The Rams battled hard and would edge the Bulldogs in a close 1-0 contest.
Both sides started even with Union College showing their physicality early. The Rams placed 11 shots on goal in the first half. The Rams were moving the ball well with excellent team play but were unable to convert. CIU was given a great opportunity in the 44th minute when a Union defender was shown a red card for a handball inside the box. The Rams were awarded a penatly kick that was taken by
Taylor Kyles. The CIU forward would sink the ball in the back of the net to put the Rams up 1-0 going into the half.
The half started with Union making adjustments on defense to nullify the Ram attackers. The Rams would manage to get six shots on net. Union answered with five shots but couldn't convert any of their chances.
Nadia Threatt and the CIU defenders would hold on to beat out the Bulldogs 1-0 in the final tally.
CIU looks to their next game on Tuesday, October 8th vs. Montreat College.
