Columbia, SC - CIU men's soccer was back on the road on Saturday as they battled Truett-McConnell University. It was an intense contest, but the Rams would come up short after 2 overtime periods.
TMU opened the scoring early in the 6th minute of play, giving the Bears a 1-0 early lead. It wasn't long until CIU answered with a goal from Marcos Da Paz in the 7th minute of the game. Da Paz would strike again in the 12th minute to give CIU a 2-1 lead over the Bears going into halftime.
The Rams looked to pull away from the Bears in the second half. However, the Bears evened the score in the 57th minute. Time expired and would head to overtime with both teams deadlocked at 2-2. Both sides tried to gain an advantage over one another but wouldn't be able to find an edge. The first overtime period would expire with the score remaining at 2-2. Truett McConnell would find a way to score in the second overtime period to win the game 3-2.
The Rams now look to postseason play in both the AAC and NCCAA.
