CIU men's soccer returned to action after a bye week against the Milligan College Buffalo. The Rams battled hard for 90 minutes and would walk away with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Milligan.
The first half was a stalemate, both sides feeling out the other. CIU placed seven shots on net, to Milligans 5. While both teams had plenty of scoring opprotunities, neither was able to gain an edge. The first half would expire at 0-0.
The second half saw both teams again try to create opportunities. The Rams would place seven shots on net, to Milligans two. The Ram defense swarmed to the ball and managed to control possession at midfield. The game appeared to be heading to overtime as neither team managed to score leading into the 88th minute. However, lightning would strike in the 89th minute with a goal from CIU forward, Marcos Da Paz. Da Paz took on two Milligan defenders and would chip the ball over the goalkeeper to give CIU the first lead of the game. Time would expire moments later, as CIU walked away with a thrilling last-minute win over their conference foe.
The team looks to their next match on senior day this Saturday against Piedmont International.
