Coming off their first win in program history the Columbia International University Women's Volleyball team was back on the court tonight. The Rams traveled to Greenville, SC to take on the Bruins of Bob Jones University.This was the Bruins first game of the season. The two teams battled, but the Bruins came out of top (22-25, 18-25, 11-25).
1st Set Highlights:
- The Rams and Bruins battled, but the Rams jumped out to an early 7-5 lead after a kill from Maiah Leon
- The teams would go back and forth as they traded points from 11 to 17.
- The Bruins would gain a four point lead, but after a Bruins attacking error and two kills from CJ Hinson the Rams were only down 22-21
- However, the Bruins would go on to win 25-22
2nd Set Highlights:
- Similar to the first set the Rams got out to a 7-5 lead thanks to a couple Bruin mistakes
- Just like the first set the team traded points when it came to the teens, but the Bruins would start to take advantage of some of the Rams mistakes and win the second set 25-18
3rd Set Highlights:
- The Bruins would jump out to a 5-1 lead, but the Rams would trim the lead to two after a Bruins attacking error
- With the score in the Bruins favor, 10-8, they would go on a huge 11-0 run and force a Rams timeout
- The Rams would pick up three more points, but fall 25-11
Box Score Numbers:
- The Bruins had 38 kills, while the Rams had 24...The Rams narrowly edged the Bruins with 6 blocks compared to the Bruins 5...The Rams had 44 digs, while the Bruins had 50...CJ Hinson led the Rams with 10 kills, while Kaci Hargrove had five...Mackenzie Sanchez chipped in with 16 assists and nine digs...Maiah Leon had 8 digs...Courtney Bates had 13 kills for the Bruins and Rachel Williams had 22 assists
