Rams Silence Screaming Eagles

For the second time in less than a week the Columbia International University Women's Soccer team was back in action at home. Tonight the Rams hosted the Screaming Eagles of Toccoa Falls College. The Rams came out ready to go and silenced the Screaming Eagles on their way to an 8-0 victory. The Rams are now 2-0 on the season.

1st Half Highlights:
  • Just over five minutes into the game got the first goal of the game as Sotiria Tsilionis found Rebecca Giancana streaking down the right side and with a beautiful shot the Rams took the early lead.
  • Over the next seven minutes the Rams built a three goal lead as Alanna Battermann scored her first two goals of the season. Kaylyn Hernandez picked up the assist on the first goal, while McKenzie Miller and Rebecca Giancana added the assists on her second goal.
  • The Rams continued to push as most of the game was played in their offensive zone and at the 39 minute mark Kaylyn Hernandez joined in on the scoring entourage. Just two minutes later Tsilionis gave the Rams a nice five goal cushion with Angel Simpson picking up the assist
2nd Half Highlights:
  • The Rams continued to put all the pressure on the Screaming Eagles. Finally with 16 minutes left in the game the Rams got a goal from a different kind of field player.
  • After playing in goal all first half, Sam Wammock came out of goal and got a chance to play on the field. She made the most of her opportunity and scored her first collegiate goal off a pass from Tsilionis.
  • After picking up an assist earlier Angel Simpson scored the Rams seventh goal and her first of the year
  • As time was winding down the Rams added their eight and final goal of the game off the foot of Madisyn Dupree. It was the first of her collegiate career
Box Score Numbers:
  • Columbia International dominated with 25 shots and 18 on goal compared to Toccoa Falls four with two on goal...The Rams also had three corners, while the Screaming Eagles had one...Alanna Battermann led the Rams with two goals...Six other Rams added a goal...To go along with their goals Tsilionis and Giancana each added two assists a piece...Wammock and Nadia Threatt each had one save...Cora Gowens and Rosie Knickerbocker each had a shot on goal for the Screaming Eagles.

Up Next: The Rams will have a couple days off before they host Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
