Men's Basketball Struggles on the Road

The Columbia International University Men's Basketball team was looking to get back to a .500 record on the season. The Rams traveled the Athens, TN to take on the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan University. A hot shooting night for the Bulldogs led them past the Rams 105-79. With the loss the Rams move to 4-6 on the season.

1st Half Highlights:
  • Jef McIlwain got the Rams on the board first with a layup
  • The Bulldogs would hit a three to take the lead, but the three by Corey Benton put the Rams back in front
  • The teams would go back and forth as the Bulldogs tied the game at eight
  • A three by Julius Chamble would give the Rams a four point lead with just under twelve minutes left in the half
  • The Rams would go cold from the field and the Bulldogs would go on 20-0 run
  • Back to back three's by Eric Graham, Damian Hurta and Zach Norris pulled the Rams back within seven of the Bulldogs
  • The Rams would go on a small run themselves and pull within two of a layup by Graham
  • After a timeout the Bulldogs would go on a 11-0 run and lead 43-31 at the half
2nd Half Highlights:
  • Corey Benton would get the Rams on the board first in the second half
  • The two teams would trade baskets, but the Bulldogs would take a twenty point lead
  • The Bulldogs continued to shoot the lights out as the Rams were unable to pull closer than 18 points
  • The Bulldogs would go on to win 105-79
Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams shot 40.9% (27-of-66) from the field and were 10-of-32 from beyond the arc, while the Bulldogs shot 55.2% (37-of-67) from the floor and were 13-of-23 from the three point line...The Bulldogs held a small 36-31 rebounding advantage...The Rams had four players finish in double figures with Corey Benton leading the way with 20 points, five rebounds, and three assists...Julius Chamble had 15 points off the bench, while Damian Hurta and Elijah Spalding had 11 points each...Ty Patterson led the Bulldogs with 16 points and chipped in with seven rebounds
