Rams Fall in Tight Contest Against Lions

For the first time in almost a month the Columbia International University Men's Basketball team was back on their home court. The Rams welcomed Bryan College to the Moore Fitness Center. The Rams were coming off a big conference win on the road, while the Lions beat #25 Montreat College on a last second shot. The Rams and Lions battled, but a strong second half by the Lions lifted them past the Rams, 81-71.

1st Half Highlights:
  • The Rams opened the game with a three by Tyrone Dantzler Jr. and a layup by Jeff McIlwain
  • The Lions would score the next seven points to gain the lead, however, a three by Kyren Bolden gave the Rams the lead back
  • The two teams would tie at ten and eleven, but a two by Julius Chamble would give the Rams the lead
  • The Lions would tie the game at 19, but free throws by Brandon Doss gave the Rams the lead again
  • With just over two minutes left in the half the Rams would lead by three after a three from Erick Bennett Jr.
  • At the half the Rams would lead 36-35
2nd Half Highlights:
  • Two early three's by the Lions would give them the lead, but the Rams would tie it at forty-one off a three by Doss and a layup from Corey Benton
  • The teams would go back and forth with numerous ties, but the Lions would take the lead and lead by ten with just over eleven minutes left in the game
  • The Rams would pull back within single digits after two free throws by Chamble
  • The Lions would push their lead back to double digits and hold on to win 81-71
Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams shot 35.8% (24-of-67) from the field and were 9-of-32 from beyond the arc, while the Lions shot 44.4% (28-of-63) from the field and were 10-of-21 from the three point line...The Rams lead in rebound with 45, while the Lions had 40...Julius Chamble led the Rams with 15 points off the bench...Brandon Doss chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds...Damian Hurta had 11 points and six rebounds, while Corey Benton was the last Ram in double figures with 10 points and eight rebounds...EJ Bush led the Tigers with 18 points and seven rebounds
Up Next: The Rams will be back on the road as they travel to Tennessee Wesleyan University on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
