After a tough loss against St. Andrews that ended their win streak, the Rams looked to get back in the column but faced a very tough road trip that featured two of the top teams in the AAC North: division leader Milligan on Friday night and Montreat early Saturday morning.
Facing against a very tough Buffalo team, Milligan would wound up defeating CIU in straight sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-18) to move to 14-4 and 8-2 in AAC play while the Rams dropped to 10-11 and 4-5 in conference play.
De'Asija Harden led the team in kills with 11 followed by
CJ Hinson with 10. Rachael Braham and
Aniya Marshall both picked up blocks, while
Mackenzie Sanchez had 18 assists,
Lily Tang with . Branham led the team in digs with 12,
Bruna Barrozo with seven and Sanchez with six.
Following the game the team went back out on the road and traveled from Tennessee to North Carolina to take on Montreat for the second of two games for their homecoming. The Cavailers just finished a thrilling five set match over St. Andrews, and both teams looking to walk out with a victory. Both teams took one set a piece, Montreat in the first 25-15, then CIU tying with a score of 25-22. But Montreat pulled away in the last two sets 25-17, 25-20 to win three sets to one. Montreat moved to 10-13 and 6-5 in conference play. CIU dropped to 10-12 and 4-6 in AAC play.
CJ Hinson led the Rams with 20 kills.
Bruna Barrozo,
Rachael Branham, and
Mackenzie Sanchez each had seven digs, and Sanchez also lead in assists with 32.
Next up for the Rams is a rematch at the Moore Fitness Center against St. Andrews, game time set for 7 PM.
