Rams and Koalas Tie on Senior Night

The Columbia International University Women's Soccer team has been playing well lately as they have not lost in over two weeks. The Rams were coming off a tie in their last game as they returned home for senior night as they honored Rebecca Giancana, Emily Rosey, Mikki Olson, Mikaela Sevilla, and Sam Wammock. The Rams welcome Columbia College to Sessions Field in a rival game. The Rams and Koalas were evenly matched as they tied 1-1 after 110 minutes. With the tie the Rams move to 8-4-4 on the year and are 4-4-3 in conference.

1st Half Highlights:
  • The Koalas got off the first shot of the game in the opening five minutes, but it was saved by senior Sam Wammock
  • The Koalas would get off a couple more shot before the Rams got their first shot off the foot of Taylor Kyle
  • Kyle would get off another shot in the final two minutes of the first half, but the teams would remain scoreless at the half
2nd Half Highlights:
  • The Rams would get off the first shot of the second half, but the Koalas would get on the board first in the 35th minute
  • The Rams would push to even the score and they did just that as Sotiria Tsilionis collected a ball that went between the keepers legs and Tsilionis deposited it in the open net
  • The Rams got off a couple more shots, but after 90 minutes it was onto overtime
1st Overtime Highlights:
  • The Koalas got off two shots in the overtime, but each shot was saved by Wammock
2nd Overtime Highlights:
  • The Rams had a golden opportunity to put the game away as Tsilionis headed a cross just wide
  • The Rams got off a couple more, but after 110 minutes the game ended in a tie
Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams had a slight advantage in shots with 11 overall and seven on goal, while the Koalas had 10 with six on goal...The Koalas had three corners and the Rams had two...Sam Wammock had five saves for the Rams...Tsilionis had the one goal with Kaylyn Hernandez picking up the assist...Ruby Hallam had the Koalas goal.
Up Next: The Rams will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Milligan College to close out conference play. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 pm.
