Rams and Bulldogs Fight to a Draw

The Columbia International University Women's Soccer team was back on the pitch tonight as they traveled to Barboursville, KY to take on the Union Bulldogs. Each team had their chances to put the game away as they played 110 minutes, but as the final sounded the teams tied 2-2. With the tie the Rams move to 8-4-3 on the season and 4-4-2 in conference.

1st Half Highlights:
  • Over the first eight minutes the Bulldogs would get off a number of shots, but Kaylyn Hernandez got off the first shot for the Rams
  • The Rams would fire off a couple more shots and finally Taylor Kyle found the back of the net as her shot deflected off the keepers hands
  • With less than two minutes left in the half the Bulldogs evened the score and the score would remain tied at half
2nd Half Highlights:
  • The Bulldogs would fire off the first couple shots of the second half, but Sam Wammock was there to make the save and keep the score tied
  • Just a couple minutes after those saves the Rams were able to regain the lead with a goal by Angel Simpson
  • The Bulldogs went back on attack and scored with just under three minutes left in the game to force it to overtime
1st Overtime Highlights:
  • The Rams got off the first shot of overtime, but the Bulldogs keeper was there to make the save
  • Each team got off a couple more shots, but it was on to a second overtime
2nd Overtime Highlights:
  • The Bulldogs got off a couple shots, but each was saved by Wammock
  • The Rams lone opportunity came off a shot by McKenzie Miller, but it couldn't find the back of the net and the two teams tied 2-2
Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams had 11 shots with seven on goal, while the Bulldogs had 31 shots with 14 on goal...Sam Wammock had a huge night in goal with 10 saves...Taylor Kyle and Angel Simpson had the goals for the Rams, while Rebecca Giancana led the team with two shots on goal...Teresa Brown had one of the Bulldogs goals with six shots on goal.
Up Next: The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday when they host rival Columbia College at 7 pm. Tuesday will also be senior night as the Rams will honor their seniors before the game.
