Box Score After a tough loss on Tuesday the Columbia International University men's soccer team was looking to get back in the win column. Unfortunately, the Rams would fall short as the Cavaliers of Montreat College won 3-0. With the loss the Rams drop to 4-5, while the Cavaliers move to 5-3.
The Cavaliers were able to get a quick and early goal as they were able to score at the 7:36 mark. The Rams looked to push the ball into the attacking zone and tie the game, but they just couldn't find a rhytme. The Rams were able to get a corner kick at 42:17, but that attempt would be unsuccessful. The Cavaliers would take their 1-0 lead into the half.
The Cavaliers would continue to put the pressure on the Rams as they took five corner kicks in a little over a 10 minute span to start the second half. The Rams would get their first shot of the game off at the 74:15 mark as Maksym Yakovenko was able to get a good shot off, but it just went wide. Less than two minutes after the Rams shot the Cavaliers were able to get their second goal of the game. The Rams best opportunity for a goal came off the foot of Paul Grandacarpio as he took a free kick that hit the crossbar and bounced to a Cavaliers player who was able to clear it. The Cavaliers would score one more goal to give the final score of 3-0.
The Rams offense hit a road block today against the Cavaliers as they were only able to manage two shots...Luke Brooks was huge in goal for the Rams as he had 11 saves that kept the Rams in the game.
The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Toccoa Falls College at 7 p.m.
