Box Score The Columbia International men's basketball team made the trip down to Jacksonville, FL to take on Trinity Baptist College. The Rams were looking to continue their winning streak that they started against Crown College, but a poor shooting first half hurt the Rams as they tried to battle back in the second half. The Eagles would beat the Rams 79-69. The Rams fall to 3-6 on the season, while the Eagles move to 5-3.
The Rams came out cold, while the Eagles came out shooting hot. The Eagles would take a 16-5 lead to open the game. Juraj Rovis would score in the paint to cut the lead to single digits, but the Eagles would continue to shoot the ball well.
The Rams would battle the Eagles, but just couldn't get the defensive stops to cut and keep the Eagles lead to single digits. The Eagles would take a 44-30 lead into half.
The Eagles would score first in the half, but the Rams had a renewed sense of energy throughout the half. The Rams would chip away at the Eagles lead and cut it to 11 with 7:18 remaining after a layup from Kerry Porter.
However, the Eagles would continue to shoot the ball well and push their lead as high as 17, but the Rams would continue to fight. The Rams would trim the lead to single a couple times, but the Eagles would go on to victory.
"I give credit to Trinity Baptist for outplaying us in every aspect," said head coach Marshall Tague. "Our bench played some important minutes for us tonight and came out with energy. At the end of the day though we need to play a full 40 minutes on both end of the floor."
The Rams shot 42% for the game...Dylan Smith led the Rams with 14 points and 5 rebounds, while JC Cavin had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists... Jordan Dillingham each had 10...The Rams would grab 29 rebounds and dish out 15 assists...Brandon Tucker led the Eagles with 18 points.
The Rams will be back in action next Saturday at home as they host Voorhees College for a 4 p.m. game.
