First year, CIU Head Baseball Coach Jonathan Johnson announced the hiring of Jeff Sneed as his assistant coach Tuesday July 18, 2019. Sneed comes to the Rams after spending the past three seasons on the coaching staff at his alma mater, Newberry College.
Sneed was instrumental in the Wolves posting a winning record during all three seasons of his tenure. The 2019 season saw Sneed help Newberry to a 41 -16 overall record as well as a berth in the South Atlantic Conference tournament championship and a spot in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
Sneed finished a stellar collegiate playing career at Newberry as a two-time Academic All - American in the spring of 2017. While playing catcher for the Wolves, he set the program record in runner’s caught stealing and was the South Atlantic Conference’s 2017 Gold Glove Catcher award winner. Snead graduated from Newberry College with a double major in Business Administration and Graphic Design
