COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's volleyball continued its surge through Appalachian Athletic Conference play Tuesday night, sweeping Montreat College 25-20, 25-18, 25-18 inside the Moore Fitness Center for its sixth consecutive victory.
All six wins during the streak have come in AAC play, moving the Rams to 10-10 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
CIU steadily improved offensively throughout the night. After hitting .143 in the opening set, the Rams hit .286 in the second before turning in their best offensive set of the match in the third. CIU put down 17 kills with just two errors on 27 attempts in the final frame for a .556 hitting percentage.
Mary Norwood led the Rams with 12 kills and just one error on 31 attempts to hit .355. Katelynn Mundy added nine kills and hit .444, while Savannah Kelly delivered an efficient performance with seven kills on 11 attempts for a .545 hitting percentage. Kelly also caused problems for Montreat defensively, recording four solo blocks and two block assists.
Ava Koselke added five kills on eight attempts to hit .500, while Zcearia James contributed five kills, nine digs and two block assists. Riley Decker recorded two of CIU's five service aces and added six digs.
Macy Brooks finished with 33 assists as CIU totaled 41 kills and hit .309 for the match. The Rams finished with five solo blocks and eight block assists while holding Montreat to a .082 hitting percentage.
The Rams will look to extend their six-match winning streak Saturday when they host Milligan University at 11 a.m. ET inside the Moore Fitness Center.
