COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's volleyball opened its 2026 home slate in dominant fashion Tuesday night, sweeping Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Spartanburg Methodist College 25-5, 25-9, 25-11 inside the Moore Fitness Center.
The Rams (5-10, 1-2 AAC) controlled the match offensively, hitting .474 with 32 kills and just five attack errors. CIU hit .500 in each of the first two sets before posting a .421 mark in the third.
Katelynn Mundy led CIU with eight kills on 15 attempts without an error, hitting .533. Zcearia James added six kills without an error to hit .600, while Eevy Bellar recorded four kills on six swings for a .667 hitting percentage. Savannah Kelly added three kills and two solo blocks.
CIU also controlled the match from the service line with 11 aces. Ashley Burgbacher led the way with five, while Riley Decker added three. Maria Ferreira handed out 15 assists and Macy Brooks added nine.
The Rams continue AAC play Friday when they take on Columbia College (S.C.).
