GREER, S.C. — CIU men's golf secured its second straight Competitor's Cup title on Tuesday, defeating Bob Jones University (BJU) after closing out the Ryder Cup-style event with a strong performance in singles play at Greer Golf Club.
Holding a 4-2 lead after day one, the Rams added four wins in Tuesday's singles matches to seal the victory and retain the cup for the second consecutive year.
Andrew Haarlow led the way with a 3-and-2 win, while Nate Caughman earned a 2-and-1 victory. Camden Stikeleather followed with a 4-and-3 win, and Luke Hammond delivered a dominant 5-and-4 victory to help secure the title for CIU.
BJU picked up three points in singles play, as Santos Espinosa fell 2 and 1, Braydon Hileman dropped a tight match 1 down, and Micah Smith was defeated 5 and 4.

"Proud of the team this week and grateful to coach a great group of young men," said head coach Major McWhorter. "When things didn't go their way, they rallied around each other. Great moral victory for us heading into conference."
The Rams will travel to Adairsville, Ga., for the AAC Men's Golf Championship on April 20-22.
