KINGSPORT, Tenn. — CIU baseball saw its 2026 season come to an end Wednesday morning with a 7-0 loss to No. 7 seed Reinhardt University in an elimination game of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament at Hunter Wright Stadium.
The Rams were limited to just one hit in the contest as Reinhardt starter Ty Pangborn struck out 14 over eight shutout innings. Corbin Wright accounted for CIU's lone hit with a first-inning single.
CIU threatened early, placing runners on second and third in the opening frame, but was unable to capitalize. Reinhardt broke the scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth inning and added three more in the sixth before tacking on a final run in the seventh.
Campbell Denton kept the Eagles off the board through the first three innings in his start, while Collin Otte worked the final five innings in relief.
Despite the season-ending defeat, the Rams close the 2026 campaign after recording the second-best AAC regular-season winning percentage in program history.
