MONTREAT, N.C. — Columbia International University track & field wrapped up competition Saturday at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships with multiple All-Conference performances as the Rams finished sixth in the men's team standings and fifth in the women's standings.
Elijah Seawright highlighted the day for CIU by claiming the AAC championship in the men's triple jump with a first-place leap of 14.50 meters (NAIA Qualifying). Donavan Latimer joined him on the podium to earn All-Conference honors with a third-place finish at 14.20 meters.
On the women's side, Arion Jefferson recorded a pair of scoring performances, placing fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.72 and helping the Rams' 4x400 relay team to a fifth-place finish in 4:10.89 alongside Elizabeth Gustafson, Morgan Hartman and Lydia Gustafson.
Michaela Oglesby added another scoring effort after her heptathlon title, finishing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.32.
In the throws, Jerchel Geathers-Washington placed seventh in the women's discus with a mark of 35.48 meters, while Coral Curry followed in 12th at 32.98 meters. Caius Johns led the CIU men in the discus with a throw of 39.10 meters.
In distance events, Elizabeth Gustafson posted a personal-best 2:25.10 in the women's 800 meters, while Morgan Hartman finished in 2:32.20 and Lilly Jackson crossed in 2:37.13. On the men's side, Jacobo Garcia-Rivera recorded a season-best 10:43.06 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
James Mayo paced the Rams in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.77, while the men's 4x400 relay team of Latimer, Mark Zagata, Dallas Turner and Mayo placed seventh in 3:25.80.
Lydia Gustafson added a seventh-place finish in the women's triple jump at 10.60 meters.
The Rams will next compete at the NCCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted by Asbury University in Asbury, Ky., May 6–8.
