Rams trail by five at half, fall to AAC leader Reinhardt

COLUMBIA, S.C. — CIU women's basketball fell 65–49 to Reinhardt University on Wednesday evening at the Moore Fitness Center in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.

Reinhardt, which entered the night tied for first place in the AAC, used a strong second half to create separation after leading just 22–17 at halftime. The Eagles outscored CIU 21–15 in the third quarter and 22–17 in the fourth to pull away.

Jerchel Geathers-Washington led the Rams with 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, finishing 8-of-12 at the free-throw line. Katie Johnson added 12 points, while Audrey Teasley contributed nine points and seven rebounds. Selah George collected seven rebounds, and Sadie Burnette added seven boards off the bench as CIU finished with a 39–36 edge on the glass.

The Rams shot 32 percent from the field and forced 19 Reinhardt turnovers but were unable to overcome 29 turnovers of their own. Reinhardt converted those opportunities into 32 points and finished with 17 fast-break points.

CIU returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 14, hosting Bryan College (Tenn.) at 2 p.m. ET at the Moore Fitness Center.
