COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU baseball welcomed Bob Jones University (S.C.) to Miller Field for their first home game of the 2026 campaign on Tuesday evening. In a tightly contested matchup, CIU stayed within striking distance into the final inning despite several costly errors. The Rams created late-game pressure, but came up short in the 4-2 loss.
BJU 4 CIU 2: Both teams went scoreless in the first two frames, but Bob Jones struck first on a passed ball in the third and another in the fourth to lead 2-0. The Rams cut the lead in half in the fifth after Ian D'Amico scored on a Bruins' defensive miscue; however, Bob Jones scored in the top of the sixth to lead by two again (3-1). They scratched another in the eighth to lead 4-1 heading into the final frame. Kai Smith singled up the middle to put another run on the board for CIU, but a flyout ended the comeback threat.
Brant Badeaux, Eli Musgraves, and Kai Smith led the team with a hit. Smith is now holding a three-game hitting streak, and D'Amico scored both runs for the Rams. Grayden Ross led the pitching staff with four strikeouts, while Campbell Denton struck out three with no hits allowed.
