Rams draw with Brenau as Boaventura scores 20th career goal

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Lohrane Boaventura scored twice to tie CIU's career goals record Monday as the Rams battled Brenau to a 2-2 draw amid a tightly contested Appalachian Athletic Conference race.

Boaventura's brace brought her career total to 20 goals, matching Haley Hernandez's program record. Boaventura reached the milestone in just three seasons.

The draw moved CIU to 4-2-4 overall and 3-2-2 in AAC play, while Brenau remained unbeaten at 4-0-4 overall and 3-0-2 in the conference.

The Rams struck first in the 30th minute when Boaventura scored an unassisted goal. CIU held the advantage until Brenau equalized less than three minutes before halftime, sending the teams into the break tied 1-1.

Boaventura put CIU back in front in the 63rd minute, finishing off an assist from Reagan Worsley for her record-tying goal. The Rams carried the 2-1 lead into the closing minutes, but Brenau answered in the 86th minute to level the match.

Hailey Resetar recorded 10 saves, including six in the second half. Boaventura paced CIU with nine shots, putting six on target. Brenau held a narrow 17-16 advantage in total shots, while the Rams finished with 10 shots on goal.
